BCBA

Job Summary

Responsible for development, implementation and supervision of Applied Behavior Analytic (ABA) services to Summit Academy Students.  This may include observing students and assessing their behavior. Meeting and training families, teachers, and support staff to discuss the student's treatment, behavioral strategies and IEP progress and recommend ways to address behavioral issues. Developing individual plans to correct, maintain, or improve certain behaviors so that students may access the curriculum.  When called for, the BCBA will modify programs as needed and provide supervision.

Essential Duties:

  • Conduct functional assessments and skills-based assessments.

  • Write and maintain behavior support plans, IEP goals and objectives and modify as needed.

  • Perform regular spot check to ensure that universal behavior plans, and individualized behavior plans are being adhered to

  • Update daily communication sheets, as needed.

  • Oversee assessment, IEP plan development, and ongoing program data analysis to ensure maximum progress.

  • Participate and assist in the in-take process of potential clients/students to include assessments, observations, and analysis of background information.

  • Directly supervise Behavioral Technicians by modeling and training behavioral principles and procedures, providing feedback and direct supervision

  • Observe students in districts (in admissions process) and discuss behavioral concerns with their current classroom teachers, staff, and BCBA.

  • Follow DESE protocol for restraints - including but not limited to debriefing students/staff.

  • Write performance reviews for RBT and 1:1 paraprofessional.

  • Create and conduct professional development for staff.

  • Attend IEP meetings for those students with behavior goals, meet with parents if questions or concerns arise.

  • Write progress reports 4x per year.

  • Review data sheets and file them in appropriate binders - make note of any new behaviors.

  • Review all ABC sheets completed by staff and file them in appropriate binders.

  • Observe student visitors during their time at Summit, discuss with classroom teacher and staff, provide feedback to admissions team. 

  • Observe students in their district or home as part of the admissions team process and share information with them - Review referral files.

Behavior Techs, 1:1 Aide

Job Summary

Providing support to instructional programs by assisting the teacher in achieving educational objectives by working with individual students or small groups to help them achieve the skill levels of the class as a whole.

Essential Duties

  • Support classroom teacher with student learning, implementing and working through behavior support plan that allow the student to meet IEP goals, as well as providing behavior redirection techniques when necessary.

  • Encourage, engage, and support student in the classroom, playground, and the community to maintain appositive environment that is conducive for learning and cooperation.

  • Collect data about student progress, based on IEP goals.

  • Assist student in the development and maintenance of appropriate social behaviors, as well as interactions with others.

  • Assist with supervision and safety of student during emergency drills.

  • Assist with student’s use of equipment and assistive technology devices.

  • Observe and intervene to redirect inappropriate behavior.

  • Assist, monitor and guide the student to pay attention, participate in activities, and complete tasks.
