About Summit Academy
Our Mission is to provide a therapeutic school alternative for students with high functioning autism and related diagnoses.
Summit students have unique gifts, but many of them have difficulty succeeding in traditional school environments. Larger classes, complex social expectations, sensory disregulation, and learning differences can make it difficult to get through the day, and often lead to behavior issues.
Summit Academy understands the challenges our students face, and we have designed a school environment that teaches kids the skills they need to
succeed in school...and beyond. Summit is a nurturing environment where 2 teachers and an instructional aide work cooperatively in classrooms of only 12 students at a time. We teach students how to cope with academic and social challenges through daily social skills instruction, positive behavior support (ABA), counseling, and hands-on learning experiences. In addition to providing high-quality academic programming that adheres to MA state standards, Summit instructs students in therapeutic martial arts, a
highly motivating venue for learning everything from self-control to memory, coordination to cooperation.
Perhaps equally as important, parents and districts choose Summit because of our warm, collaborative school culture. We are committed to building trust with families, districts, and supporting professionals through daily communication, transparency, and integrity.

Therapeutic martial arts programs encourage connections between the left and right hemispheres of the brain through cross-body movement. An eclectic, strengths-based approach to social and emotional development includes principles of cognitive behavior therapy, applied behavior analysis, and opportunities for real life problem solving.
