The year is flying by, and we can’t believe that it’s already December! We have welcomed two new students to our primary classroom this month. Our staff and students are very excited to have them join our school.
New this fall we have implemented a school-wide kindness program where Summit students are “caught being kind” by teachers and staff. When a student is recognized for an act of kindness, administration is notified via a “kindness slip”, and students are called down to the office at the end of the day to add a star to the kindness jar. Once the kindness jar is full of stars, the whole school earns a reward of their choice. This has been an incredible honor for our students to receive and students are often seen smiling as they learn what they were seen doing for others.
In case you didn’t know, our Academy has an active Parent Advisory Group (PAG) that holds a virtual monthly meeting to support the academy program and to plan activities for the students. In October, they hosted a wonderful Trunk or Treat event for all the families and students of Summit Academy. Our students had such a fun time (and our staff and families did too)!
As we close out 2023, I'd like to thank the incredible staff here and our three volunteers, Izzy, Molly and Courtney from Notre Dame Academy. These young women volunteer their time weekly with our students. They have even started a Girls Club once a week!
